Used For:

• Glaucoma and Ocular Hypertension: Primarily used to reduce elevated intraocular pressure (IOP) in patients with open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension. By reducing fluid production and increasing fluid drainage in the eye, it helps lower IOP, which can protect against optic nerve damage and vision loss.
• Redness Relief in the Eyes: In a lower concentration, brimonidine is also used in over-the-counter eye drops to relieve redness by constricting blood vessels in the eyes.

Side Effects:

• Eye Irritation: Commonly causes temporary burning, stinging, dryness, or itching upon application.
• Blurred Vision: May temporarily cause blurred vision or sensitivity to light.
