Side Effects:

  • Redness, peeling, or irritation (common initially)

  • Increased sun sensitivity

Precautions:

  • Strictly use at night (tretinoin degrades in sunlight)

  • Mandatory SPF 30+ daytime use to prevent photodamage

  • Start with alternate-day application (tolerate before daily use)

  • Not for pregnant/nursing women (risk of hydroquinone absorption)

  • Discontinue after 3-4 months (to avoid ochronosis)
