Used For:
Aztreonam is used to treat infections caused by susceptible Gram-negative bacteria, including:
- Respiratory tract infections (e.g., pneumonia, bronchitis)
- Urinary tract infections (UTIs)
- Sepsis (bloodstream infections)
- Intra-abdominal infections (e.g., peritonitis)
- Skin and soft tissue infections
- Gynecological infections (e.g., pelvic inflammatory disease)
- Pseudomonas aeruginosa infections, often in patients with cystic fibrosis (via inhalation therapy in some cases).
