Used For:

  • Bacterial infections of the respiratory tract (e.g., bronchitis, pneumonia)

  • Ear, nose, and throat infections (e.g., sinusitis, tonsillitis, otitis media)

  • Skin and soft tissue infections

  • Sexually transmitted infections (e.g., chlamydia, gonorrhea)

  • Typhoid fever and certain intestinal infections

  • Preventing infections in people with weak immune systems

Side Effects:

  • Nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea

  • Abdominal pain or cramps

  • Headache or dizziness

  • Fatigue

  • Loss of appetite

  • Mild skin rash or itching

  • Rare but serious: allergic reaction (swelling, difficulty breathing), liver problems, irregular heartbeat (QT prolongation)

Precautions:
