Used For:

  • Treating acid reflux (GERD – Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease)

  • Healing stomach and duodenal ulcers

  • Preventing ulcers caused by certain painkillers (NSAIDs)

  • Treating Zollinger-Ellison syndrome (a condition of excessive stomach acid production)

  • Reducing heartburn, indigestion, and acid regurgitation

Side Effects:
Common:

  • Headache

  • Nausea or vomiting

  • Diarrhea or constipation

  • Abdominal pain or bloating

  • Dizziness or dry mouth

Serious (rare):

  • Severe allergic reaction (rash, swelling, difficulty breathing)

  • Low magnesium levels (causing muscle cramps, irregular heartbeat)

  • Vitamin B12 deficiency (with long-term use)

  • Kidney problems (pain, changes in urine)

Precautions:

  • Inform your doctor if you have liver disease, kidney disease, or osteoporosis.

  • Long-term use may increase risk of bone fractures and vitamin/mineral deficiencies.

  • Avoid using longer than prescribed without medical advice.
