Used For

Nepafenac is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) used in the eyes (as eye drops).
It is primarily used for:

• Reducing pain and inflammation after cataract surgery

• Preventing and treating swelling (macular edema) after eye surgery

• Relieving redness and discomfort due to eye inflammation

Side Effects

Common (usually mild):

• Temporary burning or stinging in the eyes

• Slight blurred vision after applying drops

• Feeling of something in the eye

• Dry or itchy eyes

Less common / serious:

• Eye pain or redness that worsens

• Vision changes

• Eye infection (discharge, swelling, or crusting)

• Corneal problems (very rare, with long-term or excessive use)

If severe irritation or vision changes occur — stop using and contact your doctor immediately.

Precautions

• Use only in the affected eye(s) as prescribed.

• Do not touch the dropper tip to avoid contamination.

• Avoid wearing contact lenses while using nepafenac drops unless approved by your eye doctor.

• Caution in eye infections, corneal disorders, or after multiple eye surgeries.

• Not for children unless prescribed by a doctor.

• Pregnancy/Breastfeeding: Use only if clearly needed and prescribed.

• Avoid using with other NSAID or steroid eye drops unless advised — may increase risk of eye surface problems.
