Used For:

  • Lowering Cholesterol: Atcomid tablets are primarily used to lower high levels of cholesterol and other fats (triglycerides) in the blood. It works by inhibiting an enzyme in the liver that is responsible for producing cholesterol, thus reducing the amount of cholesterol produced and increasing the liver's ability to remove LDL cholesterol (often referred to as "bad" cholesterol) from the blood.

  • Headache

  • Flatulence (gas)
  • Heartburn

Less common but potentially serious side effects may include:

  • Muscle breakdown (rhabdomyolysis), which can lead to kidney damage
  • Allergic reactions (rash, itching, swelling, difficulty breathing)

If you experience any severe or persistent side effects while taking Atcomid, it's important to contact your healthcare provider.

Precautions:

  • Dosage: Follow the dosage instructions provided by your doctor or pharmacist. Do not exceed the recommended dose unless instructed to do so by your healthcare provider.
  • Medical Conditions: Inform your doctor about any medical conditions you have, especially if you have a history of liver disease, kidney disease, or if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • Interactions: Atcomid may interact with other medications, including certain antibiotics, antifungal medications, heart medications, and grapefruit juice. Inform your healthcare provider about all the medications and supplements you are taking before starting Atcomid.
  • Pregnancy and Breastfeeding: Atcomid should not be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding unless the potential benefits outweigh the risks. If you become pregnant while taking Atcomid, consult your doctor immediately.
  • Muscle Symptoms: Contact your doctor promptly if you experience unexplained muscle pain, weakness, or tenderness, especially if accompanied by fever or malaise, as these may be signs of a serious muscle problem.

Always consult your healthcare provider or pharmacist for personalized advice regarding the use of Atcomid tablets. If you have any questions or concerns about this medication, don't hesitate to reach out to your healthcare provider for clarification.
