Used For

  • Prevention of stroke in patients with atrial fibrillation (AFib)
  • Prevention of deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE) after surgery (e.g., knee/hip replacement)
  • Treatment of DVT and PE

Side Effects

Common side effects:

  • Bleeding (nosebleeds, gum bleeding, heavy periods)
  • Bruising easily
  • Nausea

Serious side effects (rare):
