Product Description
Product Name: Am-Telsan Tablets 5mg/40mg
Product Form: Tablets
Pack Size: 14's
Manufactured By: Hilton Pharma
Used For:
- Hypertension (high blood pressure): Am-Telsan tablets help lower blood pressure by relaxing blood vessels, which allows blood to flow more easily, thereby reducing the workload on the heart and lowering blood pressure.
- Cardiovascular protection: In addition to managing hypertension, this combination medication may also provide cardiovascular protection by reducing the risk of heart attack, stroke, and other cardiovascular events in patients with hypertension or other risk factors for cardiovascular disease.
Side Effects:
- Dizziness: Amlodipine and telmisartan may cause dizziness or lightheadedness, especially when standing up from a sitting or lying position. This effect is more common at the beginning of treatment or with dosage adjustments.
- Fatigue: Some individuals may experience fatigue or tiredness while taking Am-Telsan tablets.
- Peripheral edema: Amlodipine, a calcium channel blocker, can cause peripheral edema (swelling of the ankles and feet) in some patients.
- Headache: Headaches are a possible side effect of amlodipine and telmisartan.
- Hypotension: Rarely, this medication combination may cause low blood pressure (hypotension), especially in patients who are volume-depleted or taking other antihypertensive medications.
Precautions:
- Blood pressure monitoring: Regular monitoring of blood pressure is essential while taking Am-Telsan tablets to ensure that blood pressure remains within the target range.
- Electrolyte levels: Periodic monitoring of electrolyte levels, particularly potassium, is recommended, especially in patients at risk of electrolyte imbalances.
- Pregnancy and breastfeeding: Am-Telsan tablets are not recommended during pregnancy, especially during the second and third trimesters, due to potential risks to the fetus. They should also be avoided during breastfeeding.
- Renal impairment: Use with caution in patients with renal impairment, as both amlodipine and telmisartan are primarily excreted by the kidneys. Dosage adjustments may be necessary.
- Hepatic impairment: Use with caution in patients with hepatic impairment, as the metabolism of telmisartan may be impaired. Lower doses may be required in such patients.
