Used For:

  1. Allergic rhinitis: Alvigo tablets are commonly prescribed to alleviate symptoms such as sneezing, runny or itchy nose, and nasal congestion associated with allergic rhinitis (hay fever).
  2. Chronic idiopathic urticaria: They are also used to relieve symptoms of chronic idiopathic urticaria (chronic hives), including itching, redness, and swelling of the skin.

Side Effects:

  1. Drowsiness: While levocetirizine is considered less sedating than older antihistamines, some individuals may still experience drowsiness or fatigue, particularly at higher doses.
  2. Dry mouth: Antihistamines like levocetirizine can cause dryness of the mouth, throat, and nasal passages.
  3. Headache: Headaches may occur as a side effect of Alvigo tablets in some individuals.
  4. Gastrointestinal disturbances: Nausea, vomiting, or stomach discomfort may occur in some cases.
  5. Rare side effects: Levocetirizine may rarely cause more serious side effects such as liver problems, rapid heartbeat, or difficulty urinating.

Precautions:

  1. Avoid alcohol: Alcohol consumption can enhance the sedative effects of levocetirizine. It's advisable to avoid alcohol while taking Alvigo tablets.
  2. Driving and operating machinery: Due to the potential for drowsiness, caution should be exercised when driving or operating machinery until the individual knows how the medication affects them.
  3. Pregnancy and breastfeeding: Consult a healthcare professional before using Alvigo tablets if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding.
  4. Medical conditions: Inform your healthcare provider about any medical conditions you have, especially liver or kidney problems, as dosage adjustments may be necessary.
  5. Drug interactions: Inform your doctor about all medications you are taking, including over-the-counter drugs and supplements, as levocetirizine may interact with certain medications.

It's crucial to adhere to your healthcare provider's instructions regarding dosage and precautions while using Alvigo tablets to minimize the risk of side effects and ensure optimal management of allergic conditions.
