  • Hypoalbuminemia: Used when albumin levels are low in the blood due to conditions like liver cirrhosis, nephrotic syndrome, or malnutrition.
  • Plasma Volume Expansion: To expand blood plasma volume, which is important for maintaining blood pressure and circulation in critical conditions.
  • Nephrotic Syndrome: In treating conditions that cause excessive protein loss through the kidneys, like nephrotic syndrome.

  • Liver Disease: In cases of decompensated liver disease, where the liver can’t produce enough albumin.

Side Effects:

    • Nausea or vomiting
    • Fever or chills
    • Dizziness or lightheadedness
    • Tachycardia (increased heart rate)

  • Serious side effects (less common but severe):

    • Allergic reactions: Including hives, rash, or severe anaphylaxis (difficulty breathing, swelling of the face or throat).

Precautions:

  • Heart conditions: Use with caution in patients with heart failure, poor heart function, or those at risk for fluid overload.
  • Kidney issues: Patients with renal impairment should be monitored closely.
  • Pregnancy and breastfeeding: It’s important to consult with a healthcare provider before using Albunorm during pregnancy or breastfeeding, as its safety has not been fully established in these cases.

  • Monitor vital signs: Continuous monitoring of blood pressure, pulse, and respiratory rate during infusion is advised.
