Used For:

• Osteoporosis (weakening of bones) in postmenopausal women to reduce fracture risk.
• Bone complications in cancer patients (such as bone metastases).

Side Effects:

Common side effects may include:

• Gastrointestinal issues (nausea, abdominal pain, indigestion, diarrhea, or constipation)
• Bone, muscle, or joint pain
• Headache or dizziness
• Fatigue or weakness
• Flu-like symptoms (fever, chills, body aches)
• Low calcium levels (hypocalcemia), leading to muscle cramps or tingling sensations

Rare but serious side effects:

• Jaw bone problems (osteonecrosis of the jaw)
• Severe esophageal irritation or ulcers (especially if not taken properly)
• Unusual fractures in the thigh bone

Precautions:

• Take on an empty stomach with a full glass of water, at least 30–60 minutes before food or drink.
• Remain upright (sitting or standing) for at least 60 minutes after taking it to avoid esophageal irritation.
• Avoid calcium supplements or antacids within 1–2 hours of taking the tablet.
• Not suitable for patients with severe kidney disease.
• Ensure adequate calcium and vitamin D intake to support bone health.
• Consult a doctor if you experience severe bone pain, swallowing difficulties, or jaw pain.
