Side Effects: Common side effects include:
- Skin Irritation: Redness, dryness, itching, or peeling at the application site, especially during initial use.
- Burning or Stinging: A mild sensation that usually subsides with continued use.
- Sun Sensitivity: Increased sensitivity to sunlight, which can lead to sunburn.

Less common but more serious side effects:
- Severe Irritation or Rash: Persistent redness, swelling, or blistering.
- Allergic Reactions: Rare, but may include swelling, itching, or difficulty breathing.
Precautions:
- Patch Test: Perform a patch test on a small area of skin before widespread use to check for severe allergic reactions or sensitivity.
- Use as Directed: Apply a thin layer to clean, dry skin once daily (or as prescribed), usually in the evening.
- Avoid Contact with Sensitive Areas: Keep the product away from eyes, mouth, nostrils, and mucous membranes.
- Moisturize: Use a non-comedogenic moisturizer to counteract dryness and irritation.
- Sun Protection: Always use sunscreen (SPF 30 or higher) and wear protective clothing while using this medication, as it increases sun sensitivity.
- Avoid Combining with Other Irritants: Refrain from using other exfoliating agents or harsh skincare products (e.g., scrubs, astringents, or alcohol-based products) unless advised by a healthcare provider.
- Pregnancy and Breastfeeding: Consult a doctor before using, as adapalene may not be recommended during pregnancy.
- Children: Safety in children under 12 years has not been well established.
