Used For:
- Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma (NHL): Used as part of chemotherapy regimens to treat specific types of lymphoma.
- Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia (CLL): Used alone or in combination with other chemotherapy drugs to treat CLL.
- Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA): Used in combination with methotrexate to reduce symptoms in patients with moderate to severe RA who haven’t responded to other treatments.
- Granulomatosis with Polyangiitis and Microscopic Polyangiitis: Used to treat these autoimmune vasculitis conditions, which cause blood vessel inflammation.

- Fever and chills (especially with the first infusion)

Serious Side Effects:
- Infusion Reactions: Can cause difficulty breathing, hives, swelling, or low blood pressure. Severe reactions may occur, especially with the first dose.
- Infections: Increased risk of serious infections, including hepatitis B reactivation and fungal infections.
- Progressive Multifocal Leukoencephalopathy (PML): A rare and potentially fatal brain infection.
- Tumor Lysis Syndrome: In cancers with large tumor burdens, rapid tumor breakdown can lead to kidney failure and electrolyte imbalances.
Precautions:
- Pre-Medications: Patients often receive pre-medications (e.g., antihistamines, corticosteroids) before each infusion to reduce the risk of infusion reactions.
- Infection Screening: Patients should be screened for hepatitis B and other infections before starting treatment.
- Monitoring: Regular blood tests are often required to monitor immune function and overall health.
- Pregnancy and Breastfeeding: Not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Women should use contraception during and after treatment as advised by their healthcare provider.
