Amantadine Sulphate is used to treat and prevent certain types of flu and to manage symptoms of Parkinson’s disease and movement disorders caused by medications (drug-induced extrapyramidal symptoms). In Parkinson’s, it helps improve muscle control and reduce stiffness.

Side Effects:

Common side effects may include dizziness, dry mouth, nausea, insomnia, and blurred vision. In some cases, it may cause confusion, hallucinations, or mood changes, particularly in older adults.

Precautions:

Amantadine should be used with caution in individuals with a history of epilepsy, heart disease, kidney or liver problems, or psychiatric disorders. It may cause drowsiness or blurred vision, so caution is advised when driving or operating heavy machinery. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should consult their healthcare provider before using this medication. Patients should inform their healthcare provider of all medications they are taking to avoid interactions, especially with anticholinergics or stimulants.
