Used For

• Oral Candidiasis (Thrush): Nystatin is commonly used to treat thrush, a fungal infection in the mouth and throat.
• Esophageal Candidiasis: It may be prescribed for infections of the esophagus caused by Candida.
• Skin Infections: Nystatin can be applied topically to treat skin infections caused by yeast, such as candidiasis.

Nystatin works by binding to ergosterol, a key component of fungal cell membranes, causing the cell membrane to become permeable. This leads to the leakage of cellular contents and ultimately results in the death of the fungus.

Side Effects
