Used For:

Atractin (Isotretinoin) is primarily used for treating severe acne that does not respond to other treatments, such as:

• Nodular or cystic acne
• Acne resistant to antibiotics
• Acne causing scarring

It works by reducing oil (sebum) production, preventing clogged pores, and decreasing inflammation.

Side Effects:

Common Side Effects:

• Dry skin, lips, and eyes
• Peeling or redness of the skin
• Increased sensitivity to sunlight
• Nosebleeds
• Joint or muscle pain

Serious Side Effects (Seek Medical Help if Occurs):

• Severe mood changes (depression, suicidal thoughts)
• Vision changes, including night blindness
• Severe stomach pain, bloody diarrhea
• Liver problems (yellowing skin, dark urine)
• Severe headaches, dizziness, or ringing in the ears

Precautions:

• Pregnancy Warning (Highly Teratogenic):

  • Do not use during pregnancy; it can cause severe birth defects.
  • Women must use two effective birth control methods and take pregnancy tests before and during treatment.

• Avoid Vitamin A Supplements:

  • High Vitamin A intake can increase side effects.
